Meet
the staff members of the KDK-Harman Foundation. We are
here to help our nonprofit partners. After reading the FAQ's
please contact us by e-mail or phone with further questions
about the grant process, application, deadline, evaluation
reporting, or anything else.
Jackie Mata is the founding Executive Director
of this young organization. Jackie has significant
background in the areas of finance, investment management, and
taxation as she is a CPA and Certified Financial Planner.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Mata was the Director of Wealth
Management services at an Austin based investment management
firm for five years. Previously, she had been the chief
financial officer for a family office for seven years serving the
financial needs of a three generational family. Jackie began her career at
Deloitte & Touche where she was a tax manager in Ann Arbor, MI
and an audit senior in Detroit. She graduated from
Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI with a BA in Accounting. Jackie
serves as Vice-Chairman of the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas
and is a member of the board of directors for College
Forward. She lives in Lakeway and enjoys
traveling with her family at every opportunity and watching her
daughter play varsity soccer for Lake Travis High
School.

Jennifer Esterline was born in Austin and raised in Dallas. She
returned to Austin in 1994 to attend
the University of
Texas at Austin and
received her B.A. in Latin American Studies in 1998. After
graduation, she studied abroad in Mexico and Costa
Rica and also spent a year
interning at the State Capitol. In 1999 Jennifer returned to UT to
get her Master’s degree in Public Affairs with a concentration in
Latin American Studies and philanthropic studies at the LBJ School
of Public Affairs. Upon graduation, she stayed on at the
LBJ School working to develop domestic and
international programs for the RGK Center for Philanthropy and
Community Service. She then focused her work in the field of
resource development as Director of Development at both Texas
RioGrande Legal Aid and UT Austin’s Office of Development. Jennifer joined the
KDK-Harman Foundation in the fall of 2006 as its first program
officer. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her
family—especially her infant son, Gabriel, walking around Town
Lake, and
rehabbing old houses with her husband.

Erica Villarreal Ekwurzel serves as the Foundation's
Consultant which reinforces the Foundation’s commitment as a
high engagement grantmaker and enables KDK to offer grantees
fundraising, operational and networking support. Prior to joining the Foundation, Erica worked
in the nonprofit sector as a development officer. She began her
career as a Development Associate with the United
Way of Metropolitan Dallas and later
worked as the Fundraising Director of CASA (Court Appointed Special
Advocate) of Travis County. After completing her
graduate degree in 2007 at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the
University of Texas-Austin, Erica chose to continue with KDK-Harman
Foundation after a rewarding internship, the foundation’s first
intern. Erica holds a B.A. in English and Spanish from
Austin College in Sherman, Texas. In her leisure time, Erica
enjoys quality time with her new infant daughter and family as well
as traveling to new destinations.
