2012 Breakthrough's Graduation Celebration! ( 11:30 am - 1:30 pm )
Dear Friends of Breakthrough,
It brings me great pleasure to invite you to a special event happening on May 19th --Breakthrough's Graduation Celebration! At this inspiring celebration, Breakthrough students, families, staff members and volunteers come together to honor our Class of 2012 as they reach an important milestone -- high school graduation.
These students entered the Breakthrough program in 2006 as sixth graders, and after six years of hard work, they will be enrolling in college this fall and taking their next steps down the path of becoming first-generation college graduates.
This is not your average graduation ceremony – it will be an emotional celebration full of student stories, poetry and heartfelt reflections on the six year journey that transformed the lives of our students.

Salute: A Tribute To Teaching Excellence ( 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm )
Salute, a tribute to teaching excellence throughout the district, will be held at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, Wednesday, May 23. This annual event, co-hosted by Austin ISD and Austin Partners in Education, will include a program recognizing our teachers, student performances and a honoree reception. We also will name the Austin Teacher of the Year, who will serve as the District’s nominee for the Texas Teacher of the Year Program.
Join us as we honor our Teachers of the Year, National Board Certified Teachers, Teachers of Promise and Principal and Classified Staff of the Year!
Date: May 23, 2012
Time: 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Location: Long Center for the Performing Arts, 701 W. Riverside Dr.
Student performances begin at 5 p.m. Here is the lineup:
- Anderson High School Trojan Belles
- Bowie Winter Guard
- McCallum Steel Drum Band
- Bowie High School Jazz Band
- Anderson High School Quartet
- Allison Elementary School Choir
