Austin, Texas- When Kate Robinson (after a decade of non-profit experience) was running a non-profit and unable to define or measure organizational outcomes she thought she was alone. Then she found that the vast majority of non-profits are unable to measure the effectiveness of their efforts. So, she teamed up with her brother, Austin filmmaker Robby Robinson, to make a film about those rare organizations that internally assess progress towards their goals and how they do it. The product of their efforts is, Saving Philanthropy: Resources to Results, a documentary film airing on PBS in 2012. Saving Philanthropy premiered earlier this year at the Center for Effective Philanthropy conference in Boston, MA. The film made its Austin debut in September at the Texas Non-profit Summit. Universities, Statewide Associations of Grantmakers, Donors Forums, Foundations, and diverse groups of Non-profits have all screened the film. |
