Philosophy and PurposeKDK-Harman Consulting was created to build upon the strength of our grantor/grantee relationships and to help nonprofits overcome organizational challenges, otherwise not developed in a traditional grantor/grantee relationship. KDK-Harman's founder, Janet Harman, is a strong believer that nonprofits can bring about change if they are given strategic, hands-on support in growing their organizations. In consideration of KDK-Harman's overarching mission, the Foundation's grantmaking and consulting activities are focused towards building upon the capacity of our current grantees to execute their missions effectively and efficiently. As part of KDK-Harman Foundation, KDK-Harman Consulting provides its services to its grantees at no charge. The financial value of our consulting support over the course of an engagement often exceeds that of traditional foundation grants. Our services are exclusive to our portfolio of current grantees as KDK-Harman's high-engagement activities rest upon developing mutual trust, respect and confidence. We have found that the best predictor of successful engagements is a shared commitment as well as leaders who are ready and able to lead a long-term effort and push to achieve tangible results. Additionally, an objective of KDK-Harman's consulting service is to build a strategic alliance with other established and respected capacity builders in Central Texas. Rather than duplicate existing efforts, KDK-Harman looks to utilize resources present in our community. This capitalization of resources will create opportunities that provide a deeper and lasting impact in the organizational lives of our grantees and the services they provide to our Central Texas community. By offering our grantees financial, operational and networking support, KDK-Harman Foundation reinforces its unique position as a high-engagement philanthropy with the goal that our grantees have resources that they need to succeed and to make a lasting difference in the lives of disadvantaged families
