Mission and Vision

To improve the effectiveness of the education sector by providing opportunities for collaborative learning, funding, and advocacy among Central Texas education funders As a result of the collaboration among CTEF members, we hope that:

  • effective programs are sustained and expanded;
  • duplicative services are reduced or eliminated;
  • innovations addressing unmet needs are encouraged;
  • the level of investment in education increases;
  • grant-making and evaluation processes are more efficient and transparent.

Membership

As of 2010, CTEF has over 50 members.  Membership is open to private foundations, public foundations, and corporate philanthropies that 1) identify education as one of their focus areas and 2) make grants to non-profits in the Central Texas region. Individual funders and operating foundations do not qualify.

Activities

Members gather on average twice a month for educational presentations, workshops and discussions. Through our activities we strive to develop members’ capacity to make informed decisions about their giving, and promote collaboration with non-profits and other funders to create change in the community.

Tools

Giving Profile
CTEF polls its members annually as to their funding efforts over the year. The results of this poll give an in-depth look at education funding in Central Texas. Using this tool, grantmakers can recognize potential partners, as well as identify gaps and redundancies.

Common Application & Report
By publishing a common application and report, CTEF is helping to streamline the grant process for grantmakers and grantseekers. Work from a common set of questions saves grantseekers time and effort, allowing them to focus on their important work.

Common Education Indicators Project
CTEF is in the process of developing a standardized set of outcomes and indicators in various education funding areas. These indicators are intended to be a common language for grantmakers and grantseekers to communicate with and further the mission of transparency in the community.
